Stop the presses. An absolutely adored PlayStation 2 classic is coming to PC and modern consoles, and if you've never heard of the Katamari games before, this is why the remaster needs to be on your radar for 2023.
We Love Katamari originally only landed on PlayStation 2 in 2005 as a sequel to Katamari Damacy. Interestingly, creator Keita Takahashi was opposed to the game as it defied his own personal philosophy that sequels poison the creativity of developers and that the games industry is overreliant on them for success. Publisher Bandai Namco then informed him that the game would be happening, with or without his input, and Takahashi acquiesced to directing We Love Katamari.

We Love Katamari is so titled as it is a thank you to the fans who were charmed by the story, sense of humour, curiosity and moreish shibuya-kei soundtrack. If you've never played any of the Katamari games, this remaster is likely to be a brilliant place to start based on the new features that Bandai Namco has included.

The premise is that the central character is the son of the King of All Cosmos and they roll objects up on Earth into a katamari to form stars in the sky. Different levels have you rolling up different things to create a katamari of a certain size in a time limit. In We Love Katamari Reroll+ Royale Reverie though, there's an Eternal Mode which lets players roll to their heart's contentment.
The visuals have been upgraded, of course, and there are five new challenges for returning fans in the young King's storyline. Players will also benefit from quality of life improvements like favouriting musical tracks, new navigational indicators to identify barriers and goal objects, and a cute selfie mode.
We Love Katamari Reroll+ Royale Reverie will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series consoles, Xbox One and Switch on 2 June.
