A fan-favourite PlayStation 2 game, Alien Hominid, is getting a modern console re-release, but will exclude PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, for some reason.
Originally released for the PS2 and Nintendo GameCube in 2004, Alien Hominid is a 2D run-and-gun platformer that initially started its life as an Adobe Flash game. Players make their way through each level smacking government agents, blasting them with rayguns or using an assortment of other weapons to progress through the game.

It quickly became a favourite amongst fans, receiving a re-release for the Xbox 360 store in 2007, with upgraded visuals.

Now, the title is getting yet another re-release on modern platforms, as well as a sequel called Alien Hominid Invasion later this year. Its description reads: "Alien Hominid HD, the award-winning 2D side-scroller from The Behemoth, is now available for modern platforms … With hand-drawn graphics, excitingly fast gameplay, and the humor that started it all, loading up this title is like travelling decades back in time, with improved visuals and the same hardcore gaming experience."
The game can be acquired on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch, but will be skipping the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for some reason.
The Behemoth hasn’t shared any information on why Sony’s console is being left out, especially since the game got its console debut on the PS2 all those years ago.
Fans will likely be hoping this is a mistake, or a PlayStation port is on the way but has been delayed for some reason. Until The Behemoth provides some clarification on its absence, we’ll just have to wait and see if the title gets released at some point in the future.
