Red Dead History officially coming before GTA 6, and fans are losing their minds

Red Dead Redemption's Arthur Morgan is back and fans are losing it

Red Dead Redemption fans cannot get enough of Rockstar Games’ Wild West series and this upcoming release has taken fans pleasantly by surprise.

Released in 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the sequel to the 2010 entry for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Well, to be exact, this numbered sequel is in fact a prequel which tells the story of the early days of the infamous Dutch van der Linde gang and at the heart of its tale is the beloved Arthur Morgan.

We all know that GTA VI is on the way, after all, Rockstar Games made a huge announcement in December 2023 with its first official gameplay trailer. We also know that Red Dead Redemption 3 is likely coming, though the latter hasn't been officially revealed yet. However, before either GTA VI or Red Dead Redemption 3 arrives, we’re being treated to more Arthur Morgan in a way we did not expect.

Recently it was announced that Arthur Morgan will return, not in Red Dead Redemption 3 but as an American history teacher via an audiobook voiced by Roger Clark, and understandably, fans are losing their minds reacting to the Reddit thread where the news was first announced.

“I just read this post and thought 'oh that's a cool idea' and hit the link to buy the audiobook. Now I'm back here on Reddit and reading through the whole post this time and learning about who is reading the book,” exclaimed pynick. “How awesome is that?! I'm very hyped and wish you a lot of success with this project.”

“Arthur can finally explain what the hell happened to that missing princess, if he ever found out,” hoped xysage with PuddinPacketzofLuv replying, “And Gavin’s whereabouts.” Swapacoinforafish said, “Wow, that is amazing, I'm going to add this book to my list!” As you can imagine, much of the Reddit thread had the same level of excitement.

The book, titled Red Dead’s History: A Video Game, An Obsession, and America’s Violet Past, is being written by Tore C. Olsson and will be available for purchase on 6 August 2024. According to the Amazon listing the audiobook will be approximately eight and a half hours long. It will also be available in hardcover.
