Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare hailed as one of the all-time great DLCs

Once in a while, a great piece of DLC arrives that not only changes the game but leaves fans craving for more.

One such DLC/expansion is Undead Nightmare for 2010’s western classic from Rockstar Games, Red Dead Redemption for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. We’re not exaggerating when we say that Unread Nightmare changed the game, because it did.

In its own right, Undead Nightmare was so well receiving and dripping with blood-drenched content, that it even garnered its own standalone release. Undead Nightmare took the world of RDR as we knew it, and flipped it into an alternate post-apocalyptic universe filled with the walking dead.

Sure, post-apocalyptic zombie games are nothing new, even during Undead Nightmare’s release year in 2010. Yet, the combination of the wild west, the charismatic charm of John Marsten as well as the added Rockstar Games magic infused into a winning formula that fans of the studio couldn't deny. Even though I wanted to throw my controller across the room every time I was randomly killed by a zombie bobcat, the little pr**k!

Fans on Reddit have been reminiscing about Red Dead Redemption’s now-legendary, Undead Nightmare. “20 bucks. multiplayer modes, zombies. lots more than a mount cosmetic” posted Redditor glandgames.

“No DLC just expansion packs. Back when great things could be even greater with minimal effort,” said with_a_dash_of_salt. “And the Chupacabra, this is probably my favourite DLC of all time,” reminisced Notsileous.

“Still annoyed that RDR2 didn't get any single-player DLC. Imagine how good an Undead Nightmare 2 would be on the current engine, ugh,” exclaimed iNoScopedJFK00. “literally a war crime of the gaming world to not have Undead Nightmare 2. Undead Arthur vs Undead Dutch,” replied a daydreaming Nixzilla25.

Sadly, I think it’s fair to say that Rockstar Games will never give us Undead Nightmare 2 for Red Dead Redemption 2, especially with the imminent arrival of GTA VI. Though I suppose at least we’ll always have the original expansion to get that western undead fix.
