Samuel L. Jackson has been popping up in several MCU projects recently, most notably his own Disney+ series Secret Invasion, and the upcoming team-up film The Marvels, which both received trailers fairly recently.
It was his appearance in The Marvels trailer that we’re covering today, as Jackson’s inclusion has broken an MCU record previously owned by a previous cast member. Samuel L. Jackson has now officially appeared in more MCU trailers than the Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr.
Downey Jr’s Iron Man was one of the key figureheads of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside Chris Evans’ Captain America. Both actors departed from their roles following the climax of Avengers: Endgame, which saw Tony Stark sacrifice himself to save the universe, and Steve Rogers finally got to live his own life into a peaceful retirement.

Their mantles have since been passed onto other heroes, with Iron Man’s legacy being carried by Iron Heart, who recently made her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, while Falcon has taken on the role of Captain America, following the events of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
However Samuel L. Jackson’s character Nick Fury lives on, and he’s been very busy protecting the world from extra-terrestrial threats, whilst interacting with some of the key heroes of the MCU’s fourth cinematic phase.
It currently seems like Fury is living two different lives, travelling the world on the hunt for an evil faction of shapeshifting aliens called Skrull. While he’s gallivanting, friendly Skrull are taking his form to keep up appearances, presumably at his request.
His next outing will be in the Secret Invasion TV series, which is set to air on the Disney+ streaming service this year in June. He’ll then reappear (presumably as a Skrull in disguise) to help guide The Marvels on their joint adventure.

Interestingly The Marvels trailer has set another record since it aired, becoming the most disliked MCU trailer on YouTube. The film will be released in November later this year.
