After all these years, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is truly the gift that keeps on giving and we love it.
When Skyrim was first released in 2011, few could have predicted that it would still be going strong over 12 years later. Sure, it may have been turned into somewhat of an internet meme due to its nearly countless re-releases and ports, but few can argue that it’s not one of the best-supported video games of all time, largely due to its ever-vibrant modding community. Not to mention it has garnered beloved celebrity gamers like the ‘Skyrim Grandma’.

In 2016, Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, a light remaster with a visual upgrade for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, complete with all previously released expansions. A free new-gen upgrade then arrived in 2021 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

With all that in mind, it should come as no surprise that Skyrim Special Edition has recently benefited from another substantial update. The update in question brings a new paid-for mods section called Creations. The patch notes read: “Creations offers an enhanced platform not just for accessing community-made content for Skyrim Special Edition, but also empowering developers and enthusiasts to bring their Creations to a wider audience. Players can browse and download content directly within the in-game Creations menu.”

What’s more, the update also brings Steam Deck support, so hopefully, now you can play the best version of Skyrim on the go. PC players can now also benefit from Ultrawide Monitor Support for compatible devices.
Other new features include mods from the Creation Club have now been unified into the new Creations menu. You can store and retrieve uploaded saves from Bethesda.net, a new resource pack has been added to Creation and much more. The update will also make various other quality-of-life improvements as well as fix a host of reported bugs.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is currently available on just about every platform imaginable.
