Skyrim Unreal Engine 5 remake is so stunning I want to cry

Guess what we need in the world right now? Yes, you’re right! We need another release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Seriously, just check out this stunning remake featured in this article to find out why.

We know it’s a bit of a meme by now with the continuous flow of releases across generations for Bethesda’s fantasy RPG, but there are reasons why fans can't get enough of Skyrim. For starters, it’s a fantastic game that stands the test of time and it has quite possibly the most vibrant modding community than any other video game in existence.

The most recent Skyrim release was with the Anniversary Edition in 2021, a light remaster of sorts for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Better still, the Special Edition in 2016 introduced mods to PlayStation and Xbox, something typically associated with PC.

There have been rumours that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is set to receive an official remake, something that legions of Bethesda fans will surely welcome. However, despite seeing so many releases, it’s unlikely that Skyrim will get an official remake anytime soon, as much as we’d love to see it. That being said, a fan has taken matters into their own hands and this Skyrim remake powered by Unreal Engine 5 looks so good, it makes me want to cry.

The remake in question is created by Leo Torresa and a video showcasing the landscape of Markarth including what looks to be Bard’s Leap is a joy to behold. In fact, there are a few Skyrim remake videos on the channel including Blackreach, Winterhold and Whiterun to name a few. The Markarth remake video makes full use of Unreal Engine 5 on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX, Global Illumination, ray tracing reflections, custom-made assets and more.

Unfortunately, this remake will never be made for public play at the risk of facing the wrath of Bethesda layers. For us mere mortals, we’ll just have to make do with Skyrim on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
