Skyrim's latest update has not gone down well at all with fans

Skyrim's latest update has not gone down well at all with fans

Fans are saying to leave the game alone

Usually, it happens the other way around and fans of a game are begging developers to push out updates or patches, but for a slice of the Skyrim community players are fed up with the game’s support.

Recently, a fan of Skyrim took to Reddit to put Bethesda on blast saying, quite bluntly, “Bethesda needs to STOP F**KING UPDATING THIS GAME.” It’s a bold way to start a conversation and the post went on, “Seriously it’s a very old game, and because they are brain dead and keep updating it it makes modding hard as hell.” It’s a lot of anger and vitriol, but a sentiment that seems to be well supported.

Skyrim still has a very passionate fan base even after a decade

Several replies echo the stance with one user saying, “I turned off the updates from Steam” doing so because the game would stay on the preferred version. Another comment reads, “Bethesda needs to move on from Skyrim tbh. I’m aware it’s their cash cow but it’s literally been more than a decade at this point. Let. It. Go.”

It’s a tricky situation; Bethesda are updating Skyrim for the majority which includes new players or those who enjoy the game casually and for the original content. In this way, Skyrim can be at its best, but it’s obviously causing issues for those who want to run the game bolstered by mods. One thing to be learned from this thread is that many Redditors have stopped their game from auto-updating, “You could’ve spent the time writing this post into searching how to prevent Skyrim updates, the devs aren’t going to stop patching their game for modders.” Though one user says, “I just wish steam allowed update rollbacks” which would fix the situation, but it would also open games up for exploits. It’s unlikely the modders will win this argument, but at least they’re still passionate about Skyrim.
