There's Bad News For Some 'Jedi: Fallen Order' Sequel Fans, Says Insider

Star Wars fans may be divided on a lot of things. Who shot first, Han or Greedo? Is The Last Jedi a masterpiece or a colossal failure? What we can agree on though, is that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the strongest Star Wars video games in recent years. As such, fans were delighted to finally hear earlier this year that Respawn Entertainment’s game would be receiving a sequel.

Since then, rumours have been circling the galaxy. The sequel is thought to have an autumn release date with a full reveal rumoured to be coming in May. Seeing as both Star Wars Day and Star Wars Celebration take place in May, that could well happen. This is all good news, so I apologise in advance for bursting your bubble in just a moment.

As reported by Bespin Bulletin, industry insider Jeff Grubb recently revealed that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is rumoured to be releasing on new-generation consoles only, which is great for PlayStation 5 and Xbox X/S owners and terrible for everyone else. There will also be a PC release too - that remains unaffected.

It’s the news that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 users have been both dreading and expecting. So far, we’ve seen most games opt for a cross-gen release. Just last year, the release of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart exclusively for the PlayStation 5 demonstrated that perhaps a new-gen only shift was coming.

As disappointing as that news may be, it could very well be a testament to the game’s graphical quality and capabilities. Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is opting for a similar release approach simply because previous-gen consoles won’t be able to effectively handle the game.

Grubb goes on to say that the game will likely be revealed in full at Star Wars Celebration which takes place from the 26 - 29 May, so not too long to wait now, Padawans.
