Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic remake update shocks fans, instilling hope

Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic remake has received another update, shocking fans with a further twist in the tale.

After it was first announced back in 2021, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic has been on quite the rocky path with rumours of cancellations and delays. Now after a period of radio silence, fans have received a shocking update.

Announced during the PlayStation 5 Showcase back in September 2021, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is the long-awaited remake of the title with the same name that was released by BioWare way back in 2003. However, just two days ago saw fans receive confirmation that the remake was in fact cancelled with news that Sony had cut all ties to the project.

Nonetheless, it is seemingly back on after today saw Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier announce that Knights of the Old Republic is still being worked on. “Can't say whether the KOTOR remake will ever actually come out, but yes, two people from Saber Interactive tell me they're still on it, despite recent rumours that nobody is working on the game,” he wrote on Twitter.

Saber Interactive took over the project from Aspyr last year which means the remake will not be headed by the team at BioWare. It is unsure what this will mean for the game but with development still up in the air, that is a bridge we will need to cross closer to the time.

With the Knights of the Old Republic trailer being removed from the internet in September of this year and later re-added after issues with copyrighted music, it seems that everything that could go wrong with this project is going wrong. So much so, that it has taken until this month for publisher Embracer to finally acknowledge the game.

In related news, a Star Wars classic game has recently received a surprise update 17 years after it was first released.
