Star Wars Outlaws dev confirms one planet is bigger than The Division 2's entire map

A developer of Star Wars Outlaws has confirmed that one of its planets is bigger than The Division 2's entire map.

Set in a galaxy, far, far away, perhaps no movie franchise is better suited for open exploration quite like Star Wars.

Sure we’ve had open-world/galaxy(ish) games in the franchise before that offered a degree of exploration such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order/Survivor and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws look to blow each of those names into the abyss of an inter-galactic blackhole.

Of course, it’s important not to get overly carried away, despite the very impressive showing of Star Wars Outlaws at the most recent Ubisoft Forward event. After all, despite knowing that it will be an open-world game, we do not know exactly how big it will be.

However, as reported by DualShockers, the developer of Star Wars Outlaws claims that every single planet in the game is bigger than The Division 2’s entire Washington D.C. map. As a reference, The Division 2 and Star Wars Outlaws are developed by the same studio, Massive Entertainment, so this information is about as reliable as it gets. This news was confirmed by Star Wars Outlaws game director, Mathias Karlson.

That being said, it’s worth keeping in mind, that at the time of writing, we do not know many many planets' Star Wars Outlaws will feature, but we do know that some planets (not all) will be procedurally generated. Karlson also confirmed that players will be able to customise spaceships, speeder bikes as well as blaster pistols. Happy days!

In related news, ‘fans’ are threatening to boycott Star Wars Outlaws because women exist, apparently. What’s more, it seems that a once-dead and buried cancelled Star Wars game is being revived, or at least some fans are hoping so.

Star Wars Outlaws will be released sometime in 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
