Starfield gets noticeable graphics boost in free patch

Starfield looks better than ever on PC thanks to a free graphics boost

It’s now been five months since the launch of Bethesda’s highly anticipated sci-fi RPG, Starfield and developers are still hard at work to improve the game as indicated by its most recent free patch.

Whether Starfield lived up to the expectations of fans is subjective and nearly half a year since its release, it’s received somewhat of a mixed reaction. In our review of Starfield, we said: “Starfield is without a doubt a monumental release - and not just because it's Bethesda's first new IP in 25 years. Every now and then, a new game comes along that changes our perception of what the industry is capable of. Starfield is that game. This is beyond what we've come to know an open-world to be.”

In case you’ve been living under a rock, rumours have suggested that several Xbox exclusives could be headed to PlayStation 5 which includes Starfield as part of Microsoft’s rumoured new business venture. If true, the future of gaming could be wild.

Now the latest patch for Starfield has been deployed by Bethesda giving it a noticeable graphics boost on PC. The patch which is accessible to Steam beta testers adds support for AMD FidelityFXTM Super Resolution 3 and Intel Xe SuperSampling. What’s more, it’s also fixed visual artefacts that would occur when aiming a weapon and/or task swapping as well as fixing an issue of clouds appearing when using DLSS performance mode. The update has also fixed several other reported bugs.

The update should have already been applied to your Starfield game or at least when you next boot it up as long as you have opted-in to the beta updates on Steam. This particular patch is exclusive to PC but hopefully, Bethesda will deploy a future patch to freshen up the visuals for Starfield on Xbox Series X/S.

Starfield is out now on PC and Xbox Series X/S. It’s also available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers at no extra cost.
