Starfield has more dialogue than Skyrim and Fallout 4 combined

Todd Howard has revealed that Starfield has over 250,000 lines of dialogue in total.

One thing we’re certain of when it comes to Starfield is that Bethesda’s latest space epic is going to be big. At this year’s Xbox and Bethesda showcase, it was revealed that Starfield has over 1,000 planets to explore across 100 star systems. I dread to think how long it’s going to take to see all there is to see in this game.

We shouldn’t be surprised. After all, Skyrim players are still making discoveries 11 years after the game was released. Well, we now know that Starfield has got plenty of dialogue to help bring its ambitious and vast world to life - 250,000 lines of dialogue to be exact.

Take a look at some Starfield gameplay below.

As reported by VG247, game director Todd Howard has confirmed in a YouTube video that Starfield has over 250,000 lines of dialogue, which is more than Skyrim and Fallout 4 combined. To compare, Skyrim had 60,000 lines of dialogue while Fallout 4 had 111,000.

Howard also explained how Starfield’s trait system would work, noting that it’s one of his favourite parts about the game. Elaborating on the persuasion system, Howard said, “While you're looking at the character and how they emote, you have a series of choices there. [These checks] feel like it's part of the dialogue, yet you're spending points to persuade them. It feels natural. Not like [you've] entered some other mode."

In other news, it’s also been revealed that Starfield is bringing back one of Oblivion’s most annoying NPCs, which actually links in with the aforementioned trait system. If you choose ‘Hero Worshipped,’ you’ll be followed around by “an annoying adoring fan.” Sound familiar? Starfield is certainly living up to its ‘The Elder Scrolls in space’ reputation, that’s for sure.
