Stunning Xbox exclusive finally lands on PlayStation 5

Finally, PlayStation 5 gamers can get in on the grotesque fun of Scorn!

Finally, the visually stunning and yet incredibly grotesque Scorn is now available on PlayStation 5 with its Xbox console exclusivity period coming to an end.

Developed by Ebb Software, Scorn is a mature first-person horror that is inspired visually by the works of artists H.R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński. Scorn is a game certainly not for the faint of heart with many of its environments and enemies being unnervingly sexualised. If you’re a fan of the sets from the Alien movies by 20th Century Studios, then you probably have a vague idea of Scorn's visual design.

Check out the Scorn PlayStation 5 trailer below!

Scorn was originally released for PC and Xbox Series X|S on 14 October 2022 and while not being critically received by the masses, it garnered curious PlayStation 5 gamers to see what all the fuss is about. Well, now PS5 gamers can finally check out Scorn for themselves.

Scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and sombre tapestry,” reads the synopsis of the game. “It is designed around the idea of "being thrown into the world". Isolated and lost inside this dream-like world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion.”

Unfortunately, Game Rant reports that there is no mention of the PS5 port being optimised to take advantage of the console’s 3D audio, at least judging by the description on the PlayStation Store. If true, this would be a shame, as Scorn would be a tormenting delight for those who like to add an extra layer of immersion by using a gaming headset.

On Metacritic, Scorn earned rather balanced scores of 70 from critics and 6.7 from users. From my own experience, it’s likely to be a game that you’ll love or hate, which is probably why it was an ideal inclusion on Xbox Game Pass. At the time of writing, there are no current plans for Scorn to arrive on PlayStation Plus, but that might one day change.

In our review of Scorn, we said: “Fans of dread-filled atmospheres and H. R. Giger-inspired aesthetics will not want to miss this one, so long as you have the emotional resolve required.”

Scorn is out now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
