In recent years, very few games have hit the mark quite like The Last of Us and Cyberpunk 2077 and for some, will be amongst the most favourite video games of all time.
Developed by Naughty Dog, The Last of Us cranks up the horror in a post-apocalyptic world now overrun by blood-thirsty human mutations following the cordyceps outbreak spreading its virus across the globe. Telling the story of Joel, a reluctant father and Ellie, a young girl said to be the saviour of humanity forge an unlikely bond as they scavenge, run and survive in this cruel new world.

Then we have Cyberpunk 2077 developed by CD Projekt RED, a very different game to The Last of Us, other than being set in a dystopian future, the sci-fi RPG is set in a world inspired by Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner in which humanity is obsessed by cybernetic enhancements. Enter Pacific Drive, at a glance, this is a very different game to both The Last of Us and Cyberpunk 2077.

Developed by Ironwood Studios and published by Kepler Interactive, why is Pacific Drive a game for fans of The Last of Us and Cyberpunk 2077, I hear you ask? Especially with it being a driving game. For starters, Pacific Drive also cranks up the horror and much like The Last of Us, it’s a fight for survival. As for Cyberpunk 2077, rather than cybernetically enhancing yourself as a human, it’s all about making vital modifications to your car to give you the best chance of surviving as well as articulate preparation.
“Pacific Drive is a first-person driving survival game with your car as your only companion. Navigate a surreal reimagining of the Pacific Northwest, and face supernatural dangers as you venture into the Olympic Exclusion Zone,” reads the description on the Steam store.
“Each excursion into the wilderness brings unique and strange challenges as you restore and upgrade your car from an abandoned garage that acts as your home base. Gather precious resources and investigate what’s been left behind in the Zone; unravel a long-forgotten mystery while learning exactly what it takes to survive in this unpredictable, hostile environment.”
Pacific Drive is coming to PC and PlayStation 5 on 22 February 2024.
