The Last Of Us season 2 production begins

The Last Of Us season 2 production begins

Pre-production has begun on season two of The Last of Us with one major filming location revealed.

HBO’s The Last of Us drew to a close three weeks ago and to be perfectly honest, all we’ve been able to think about since is the upcoming second season.

We know that season two will adapt The Last of Us Part II, and will do so across several seasons - which is no surprise really. Part II is a much meatier game in terms of the depth and length of the story. Fans are desperate to know who will portray Abby. As we await official news, they’ve come up with some great fancasts. Co-showrunner Craig Mazin has teased that the second season could skip or lessen the time-jump - and Ellie actor Bella Ramsey has already been showing off their incredible guitar and singing skills ahead of that ‘Take on Me’ scene. Today though, I’m happy to reveal that season two has entered production.

That’s right. Technically, season two is in pre-production but that means that the show’s creatives are hard at work getting everything ready for when the actors eventually arrive on set to start filming. According to a report by Deadline, much of season two will be filmed in Vancouver.

This is interesting because season one was, on the whole, pretty rural (filmed in Calgary and rural Alberta). Vancouver is Canada’s third biggest city so we should expect season two to have a much more urban feel. This won’t surprise those of us who have played Part II. The vast majority of the game is set within the city of Seattle - unlike the first game which constantly changes location. Vancouver is assumedly then standing in for Seattle. I’m getting so excited typing this. The WLF and Scars are coming folks.

If you’re someone who was underwhelmed by the number of infected in season one, this more urban setting should be a solid indication that we’re due to see more in season two. After all, infected tend to gather where people are. Seeing as Vancouver is such a big city, I’d imagine we’re also going to get some juicy set photos in the coming months.
