Last night's shocking Witcher announcement was so popular that it appears it managed to take down the series' official website.
As I'm sure you've heard by now, CD Projekt RED has confirmed a brand-new entry in The Witcher series is in development. The new game is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, and is definitely not The Witcher 4.

Beyond that, there's still plenty we don't know about the game - and it's unlikely we'll hear more for quite some time. But fans were clearly so desperate to inhale this latest, and long-awaited, Witcher news that they completely overwhelmed CDPR's website.

The Witcher Twitter account was, naturally, first to share the news of the new game, along with a link to a blog post explaining more. For many, including scores of poor news writers who were desperate to get the word out, the link was simply not loading. It seems there was such a rush to get the details that fans took the page down, prompting CDPR to share a screengrab of the post on social media instead.
This is, I believe, a testament to just how beloved The Witcher series has become around the world since the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and the Netflix show. There was a time when news of a Witcher game would have been met with a polite smile and a small shrug. Now? It's taking down websites. What a journey.
