Henry Cavill left The Witcher due to dissatisfaction with the direction that the show was going in. Correct? No, not really. No one's actually stated the real reason that the actor stepped away from one of his most coveted roles, and now, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has explained that there's more than meets the eye with Cavill's exit.
The news that the actor would no longer play Geralt has been met with only the purest vitriol from fans - with a sprinkling of sorrow. The petition to fire the show's writers and bring back Cavill has sprinted past 300,000 signatures, some adding that the team is "selfish," "idiotic," and "the obvious problem" with the adaptation.

Naturally, the whole thing is something of a hot potato, and might we remind you that Cavill had plenty of pleasantries to offer his former employers upon his departure. In an interview with NME about the new spinoff The Witcher: Blood Origin, Hissrich seemed to suggest that the story isn't over regarding the recasting and that it isn't as a consequence of a change in creative ambitions.

"We’re going to try and talk about that next year," said a publicist when asked about the Cavill catastrophe. "That’s exactly what I was going to say!" responded Hissrich. "I do have a lot to say and I think that there’s a lot of, you know… we’ll obviously never get into exactly why Henry left, all of the reasons, but I can say it’s been a mutually respectful relationship… So please, please, please come back in six months when we can talk."
Very curious stuff. Meanwhile, Cavill is going to star and executive produce in the adaptation of Warhammer 40,000 that's in the works with Amazon.
