The world of The Witcher is one of tricky moral dilemmas and tough choices with unforeseen consequences. But perhaps the hardest decision of all is who Geralt should give his heart to.

While our hero meets plenty of women on his travels, there are only two that he's in love with. The first is Yennefer of Vengerberg , an ice-cold sorceress with an eternal bond to the Witcher and a complicated history going back centuries. The second is Triss Merigold, a tough Temerian sorceress and complete opposite of Yennefer in many respects.

Take a look at our very own tour of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's Skellige region below!

It's certainly true that the original books lean much more heavily towards Yennefer and Geralt as a couple. There's a clear endgame there, but The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - the route into the series for a large majority - provides a pretty compelling argument for Triss.

It's perhaps because of this that Witcher fans have fallen into two camps. If you're a fan of the franchise, you're either Team Yennefer or Team Triss.

Admittedly, the Yennefer camp is significantly more crowded... but Triss still has her fans. Unfortunately, The Witcher star Henry Cavill is not among them.

Speaking to Digital Spy on the red carpet for the Netflix show's impending second season, Cavill explained why he feels Yennefer is the right choice - both in the books, and the games.

"For me, when I played the games and especially when I read the books, I feel it's always been true to Geralt's core is Team Yennefer," Cavill said. "Of course, the great thing about the game is that you can do whatever you want and that's the great thing about games. But for me, even in the games, it was Team Yennefer."

So there we have it. Another blow for poor Triss Merigold. One day those of us on Team Triss will know what it feels like to be on the winning side... it's just not today.
