'The Witcher' Writers Are Already Mapping Out Season 4

'The Witcher' Writers Are Already Mapping Out Season 4

Season 3 hasn't even completed yet but season 4 is being planned out.

Despite severe financial losses reported at Netflix leading to the cancellation of a number of its proposed projects it seems The Witcher TV show is right on track.

Senior executives at Netflix have reportedly said that the company is tightening its belt. This means that going forward it aims to focus on projects with the highest financial returns over those with the biggest reach. So while Netflix has reportedly upped the budget on the shows which bring in the most new subscribers such as Stranger Things, other budgeted animated projects have been dropped.

If you haven’t been keeping up with The Witcher you can see the trailer for the second season in the video below.

A discussion with Stephen Surjik, who directed several episodes of the The Witcher show, on Brigade Radio One reveals plans for the fourth season, before the third season has even been completed. While no trailer or release date has been confirmed for the upcoming season it appears that plans for the following season are already in discussion.

Host, Ethan Dettenmaier, asks Surjik “Is season 4, has season 4 been discussed? They got to have. I’m sure,” to which Surjik replies “They’ve mapped out season 4. You know, the writers, the producers, they mapped out season 4. I don’t know if I’m part of that mapping programme, but I’m pleased they’ve told me that they’re mapping it out.”

While Surjik concedes that he is not currently part of the discussion concerning the filming of a fourth season. However, he hopes that by being told about the plans to continue the show, he will be considered to direct further episodes.

While nothing official has been released concerning the third season, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich confirmed "I’m really thrilled with how the season is shaping up because it’s based on my favourite book in the saga, which is The Time of Contempt, - I feel like seasons one and two have been laying the playing field for everything huge that’s about to happen."
