Update: Tomb Raider I-III Remastered has now been announced for PC, PlayStation and Xbox. So now just about everyone can enjoy the enhanced OG adventures of Lara Croft. Happy days!
Original Story: The Tomb Raider series is without question one of the most popular and iconic video game series of all time, and so too is its leading lady, Lara Croft.
The original Tomb Raider was released all the way back in 1996 for the SEGA Saturn, PlayStation and MS-Dos. Since that time, Lara Croft’s Indiana Jones-inspired adventures have continued to win the hearts of fans for decades.

For quite some time, fans have been calling for the original Tomb Raider trilogy to be remastered for the modern era. Well, Tomb Raider fans, your wish has been granted. During today’s Nintendo Direct, it was announced that the original Tomb Raider trilogy is being remastered in one glorious collection. The remasters will be handled by Aspyr, who had previously ported the likes of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel to Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
“Follow the iconic Lara Croft around the world and face off against deadly foes and dangerous myths. Experience the classics boasting upgraded graphics, with the option to switch to the original polygonal look at any time,” reads the description of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered.

Judging by its announcement trailer, the remastered games in the collection look to be very faithful to its source material retaining its wonderful polygon visuals. Yet, it’s still benefited from an impressive upgrade in character and environmental textures. It also looks to retain its clunky gameplay and awesome soundtrack, but we seriously wouldn't want it any other way.
What’s more, players will be able to switch on the fly between the original visuals and the remastered upgrade. Furthermore, the collection will feature all previously released DLC and secret levels that were originally included in the PC ports. The expansions include ‘The Unfinished Business (Tomb Raider), ‘The Gold Mask’ (Tomb Raider II) and ‘The Lost Artifact’ (Tomb Raider III).
At this time, it’s only been announced for the Nintendo Switch, but hopefully, other platforms, such as PlayStation and Xbox will be announced at a later date. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered will be released on 14 February 2024, which just so happens to be Lara Croft’s birthday.
