The Tomb Raider trilogy officially hits modern consoles in February

The original Tomb Raider games are being remastered!

Since 1996 with the release of the original Tomb Raider, Lara Croft and her epic adventures have continued to win the hearts of loyal fans.

Over the years, we’ve seen a nearly countless amount of Tomb Raider releases on PCs, consoles, and even mobile devices. The most recent mainline entries in the series is the ‘survivor’ reboot trilogy that began in 2013 which was received with a mixed reception. Personally, while arguably not capturing the magic of the original games, I still enjoyed them for what they were.

Check out the Tomb Raider I-III Remastered trailer below!

The Tomb Raider franchise has had somewhat of a resurgence in recent months with not only a Netflix animated series starring Hayley Atwell on the way but also a rumoured remake of the original game. Oh, and Lara Croft has even starred as an Operator in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II/Warzone.

So when Tomb Raider I-III Remastered was announced during a Nintendo Direct event in September, it got fans of the series excited to relive that old-school Lara Croft magic. This collection of classics includes remasters of the original trilogy and not only features an impressive visual upgrade but also content that wasn't previously released on consoles. Players can also switch between the newly improved visuals and the old-school visuals during gameplay.

“Follow the iconic Lara Croft around the world and face off against deadly foes and dangerous myths. Experience the classics boasting upgraded graphics, with the option to switch to the original polygonal look at any time,” reads the description of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered.

Included in Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is Tomb Raider (with The Unfinished Business expansion), Tomb Raider II (with The Gold Mask expansion) and finally, Tomb Raider III (with The Lost Artifact expansion).

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered will be released on 14 February 2024 (my birthday) on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
