Ahsoka is the best Star Wars instalment since the OG trilogy, fans say

It’s fair to say that Star Wars has been experiencing a tiny bit of franchise fatigue as of late. I certainly wouldn’t say it’s to the same extent that we’ve seen with Marvel and DC but still, there’s a light sense of oversaturation.

If you ask me, Andor is perhaps one of the strongest Star Wars projects of all time. The issue is, coming off the back of the very lacklustre The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi - both which largely served as fan service vehicles - Andor perhaps didn’t pull in the numbers it rightly deserved. Thankfully, a second (and final) season is still on the way - and yes, two seasons was always the plan. The Mandalorian has always been Disney Plus’ crowning jewel, but even the latest season of that left some fans feeling underwhelmed. Well, Ahsoka has now arrived and it looks as if it’s the fresh lease of life the Star Wars franchise needed. Fans are saying that it’s the best instalment since the OG trilogy.

Ahsoka has been extremely well-received, both by critics and fans. If you haven’t yet watched the first two episodes, don’t worry. You won’t find any spoilers here. A quick trip over to Rotten Tomatoes (at the time of writing), reveals a critics score of 93% and an audience score of 91%. That means that Ahsoka is certified fresh. It also means that it’s the highest audience score the franchise has received since Return of the Jedi.

The remaining audience scores are as follows: Andor at 86%, Obi-Wan Kenobi at 62%, The Book of Boba Fett at 54%, Star Wars: Visions at 65%, Star Wars: The Bad Batch at 83%, The Rise of Skywalker at 86%, The Mandalorian at 78%, Star Wars Resistance at 57%, Solo at 63%, The Last Jedi at 42%, Rogue One at 87%, The Force Awakens at 85%, Rebels at 84%, The Clone Wars series at 91%, The Clone Wars film at 40%, Revenge of the Sith at 66%, Attack of the Clones at 56%, and Phantom Menace at 56%.

Clearly, none of those scores match Ahsoka’s 92%. It’s only when you reach the OG trilogy that you find real competition. Return of the Jedi has a score of 94%, The Empire Strikes Back sits at 97%, while A New Hope has a score of 96%. That really does put Ahsoka amongst the greats. Let’s hope the series maintains its quality.
