Harry Potter And The Cursed Child movie teased by original actor

Original Harry Potter actress Bonnie Wright, best known for playing Ginny Weasley, has teased that she’d be interested in returning for a Harry Potter And The Cursed Child film.

Harry Potter is easily one of the biggest and most successful film franchises of all-time. In fact, in recent years, Warner Bros. have been trying to recreate that magic. The most notable attempt came in the form of the Fantastic Beasts series but while the opening film held plenty of premise, further instalments were let down by lacklustre writing and controversies surrounding stars Johnny Depp and Ezra Miller, alongside JK Rowling herself. We now know that a TV reboot is in the works at HBO, with the decade-long project set to feature an all new cast. It’s a bold idea when the film series remains so recognisable and well-loved. We’re yet to get a Cursed Child film, although actor Bonnie Wright is keen to get involved.

If you don’t know, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a stage play that opened in the West End back in 2016, although it’s now performed around the world. It follows Harry’s son, Albus Severus Potter, who seeks to prove his worth by opting to go on a time travelling adventure. For years, fans have been calling for a film adaptation - and I must admit, given the money this franchise makes, it’s odd that one is yet to come to fruition.

Ginny Weasley actor Bonnie Wright recently appeared on the Inside of You podcast, as reported by ComicBook, talking about that very possibility. She said, “The biggest question everyone wants to know is if they are going to be making a TV/film version of it. I don't know. It would be pretty fun because it's really about the children. It's not about our characters, so it wouldn't be a massive role. It would really be about these kids and the new generation. It would be fun, but I have no idea if they'll do it."

It sounds as if Bonnie is up for the idea. Other members of the Harry Potter cast are keen on returning to the reboot TV series as teachers instead of students. Either way, I’m sure we’ll see some familiar faces again.
