Tabletop gaming has arguably never been as hot as it is today and perhaps none more so than the Warhammer 40,000 from Games Workshop.
At the front and centre of the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop fandom is everyone's super-geek, none other than the Man of Steel, Geralt of Riveria (or at least he was) aka, Henry Cavill. It doesn't matter if you’re a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or not, the chances are that you will know that Mr Cavill is a huge fan, as he is a massive gamer who loves nothing more than building a beast of a PC.

Back in December 2022, produced by Amazon Studios, Henry Cavill will be the executive producer and star in the new Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe. “For 30 years I have dreamt of seeing a Warhammer universe in live action,” said Cavill announcing the news in an Instagram post at the time. “Now, after 22 years of experience in this industry, I finally feel that I have the skill set and experience to guide a Warhammer Cinematic Universe into life.”

Since that announcement, news on the Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe has been quiet, that was until now because production is underway. In a recent update, Games Workshop has confirmed that production is now “properly rolling”.
“Well, today we have an update, and it’s one we’ve all been longing to hear. We’ve now signed the full agreement and the next stage can begin!” said Games Workshop in a blog post. “Now comes the fun part: working out all the creative details with our partners and getting the first script written and into production. What Warhammer 40,000 stories should we tell first? Should we kick off with a movie or a TV show? Both?!”
“All we can tell you right now is that an elite band of screenwriters, each with their own particular passion for Warhammer, is being assembled to help bring the setting and characters you love to the screen. This illustrious group will be championed by Henry Cavill, who stands ready to take his place as executive producer – bringing his pen, sword and/or spear to the project,” it continued.
The blog post concludes: “TV and Film production is a mammoth undertaking. It’s not unusual for projects to take two to three years from this point before something arrives on screen. Still, things are now properly rolling, and you can bet we’ll bring you all the latest updates and cool snippets as soon as we’re able.”

So, there you have it, the Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe is finally underway, though we’re just going to have to be very patient until it arrives on our screens. Hopefully, it will be well worth the wait.
