Jamie Foxx sued for alleged sexual assault

Actor Jamie Foxx is being sued over an alleged sexual assault which reportedly took place on a rooftop in New York City eight years ago.

The lawsuit alleges that Foxx was at Catch NYC, a restaurant in New York’s Meatpacking District, during the summer of 2015 when he told a woman, “Wow, you have that supermodel body”. On the morning of 26 August, it’s suggested that Foxx groped a woman after she asked if she could take a photo with him.

The lawsuit, as reported by LADbible, states that Foxx is being sued for “sexual assault, abuse, assault, and battery”. In the same evening, Foxx is said to have grabbed the same woman by the arm, pulling her into a “secluded” area of the rooftop restaurant. There, the lawsuit states that “heinous touching and sexual assault” took place, causing the alledged victim “severe emotional distress and anxiety”. It’s said that the female victim was left with post traumatic stress disorder.

The document further alleges that Foxx both touched the woman’s breasts and put his hand in her underwear without her consent. It’s been detailed that eventually, the woman’s friend came looking for her. The lawsuit was filed at the New York Supreme Court using Foxx’s real name, Eric Bishop.

It states that Foxx was “operating through his position as a well-known celebrity”. The woman’s identity has been kept anonymous and she is simply referred to as Jane Doe. The lawsuit is also seeking damages from Catch NYC, owned by Mark Birnbaum, alleging that the business was “negligent” and “failed to use reasonable care to prevent the acts described”.

Today, on 23 November, the New York Adult Survivors Act is set to expire. This act was passed last year, allowing for a year-long temporary window for sexual assault allegations to be brought to light and filed outside of the usual time constraints. During this time, similar allegations have been made against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Bill Cosby, and Donald Trump.

Jamie Foxx is yet to respond to the lawsuit or reports.
