Since the original Iron Man movie from 2008 helped to kick-start phase one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, each and every movie that followed has pretty much been a box office hit accompanied by huge budgets, and recent TV series’ on Disney Plus have been no exception.
One of the most recent MCU series on Disney Plus is Secret Invasion starring Samual L. Jackon as Nick Fury. In an article from Forbes on 8 July, it’s claimed that Secret Invasion had an eye-watering budget of $212 million, which is more than most movies can ever dream of. Whether that expensive budget paid off, well, that’s another matter.

However, if you thought that the budget for Secret Invasion had been blown into the stratosphere, then She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is here to hold its beer. To say that the She-Hulk series received a mixed reception would be an understatement. According to Rotten Tomatoes, it received a critic score of 77% but an audience score of just 32%.

“In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) an attorney specialising in superhuman-oriented legal cases must navigate the complicated life of a single, 30-something who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk,” reads the synopsis of the Disney Plus series.
As reported by Variety, it is claimed that just one episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law costs $25 million. Over its nine episodes, this means that the She-Hulk series could have cost a whopping $225 million, $10 million more than Secret Invasion, apparently. What’s more, it’s also claimed that She-Hulk: Attorney at Law cost more to make than the Avengers movie of 2012 which reportedly had a budget of $220 million.
Is the expense of She-Hulk: Attorney of Law deemed to be good value, at least from the perspective of Disney? We can only assume, but it might be telling that at the time of writing, season two of She-Hulk: Attorney of Law hasn't been commissioned, at least publicly.
