She Hulk season 2 shut down by Disney, says star

It was always going to be tricky for Marvel to follow up the epic grandeur that was The Infinity Saga. The question being, can you capture lightning in a bottle twice?

Well, The Multiverse Saga has been somewhat hit and miss thus far, although in the grand scheme of things, it’s still fairly in its infancy. There have been some real hits. Wandavision, Loki, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 all spring to mind. Then, there’s the mid tier - heaps of fun yet commercially underrated - projects like Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and The Marvels. And then there have been the projects that, while entertaining, leaned too heavily on CGI stereotypical fodder, namely Thor: Love and Thunder and Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania.

The Multiverse Saga’s Phase Four has been and gone, with us now being halfway through Phase Five. By the end of Phase One, we’d already seen the Avengers team up and I think that’s exactly what this saga is missing. It’s not until Thunderbolts, due out mid 2025, that we’ll see any characters come together and then we’ll still be waiting for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty to land (if it’s still called that).

What I’m saying essentially is that The Multiverse Saga feels a tad chaotic and without a solid central thread. Its greatest strength is the new character’s it’s introduced, like the very entertaining She-Hulk that’s … not returning? What is going on over at Marvel HQ? According to star Tatiana Maslany, Disney has turned down a second season of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law which is easily one of the MCU’s more entertaining TV series.

Speaking on NerdIncorrect’s Twitch gameshow Codenames Live, Maslany was asked if we should expect a second season, responding with, “I don’t think so. I think we blew our budget, and Disney was like, ‘no thanks’.” It’s assuredly disappointing to hear. Then again, The Multiverse Saga does have a certain ‘make it up as we go along’ feeling about it. I don’t think the road is going to get any smoother from here on out Marvel fans.
