Twilight TV reboot announced with all-new cast

Twilight TV reboot announced with all-new cast

A Twilight TV series is reportedly early in development - it could apparently take a different direction from the original books.

Everything is getting a reboot right now, it seems. If the recent Harry Potter announcement wasn’t enough, the most iconic romance fantasy series of our generation is also apparently getting its own TV adaptation.

You better hold on tight, spider monkey. I’m of course talking about Twilight, and I hope you’re prepared to hear the “you nicknamed my daughter after the Loch Ness Monster” line all over again, because I know I’m not. The Hollywood Reporter's sources reportedly say that the series is currently in early development via Lionsgate Television. It's not known if any of the original cast will be returning or not.

Take a look at the teaser trailer for the new Harry Potter TV series below.

It’s claimed that Sinead Daly (Raised by Wolves, The Walking Dead: World Beyond) will be writing the Twilight reboot’s script, but is currently in the process of working with Lionsgate TV to figure out if it’s going to be a complete remake (like the upcoming Harry Potter TV series), or whether it’ll take a different direction from the original books and films entirely. However, it’s apparently all very early in development, and it’s not known when the series will be taken out to potential buyers.

The Hollywood Reporter’s sources reportedly say that author of the Twilight series, Stephenie Meyer, is expected to be involved, and you’d hope that that’s true. Twilight Saga producer Wyck Godfrey and Erik Feig (the former co-president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group) are allegedly going to serve as executive producers.

You have to wonder if it’s a coincidence that this news has surfaced right after it was announced that Harry Potter is getting a rebooted TV show, too. Many have already made it clear that they’ll be boycotting the Wizarding World show due to J.K. Rowling’s involvement, and not everyone is pleased about the decision to recast all the characters.

Back to Twilight though, and at the time of writing, there’s no indication as to when we can expect the TV reboot to air, or even be officially announced for that matter. Watch this space.
