Twitch streamer appears to shoots home invader during unsettling livestream

Twitch streamer MattDamnit has reportedly shot a home invader who entered the residence while he was live playing League of Legends, on 23 October.

When strange sounds were heard inside the house, MattDamnit is seen to leap out of his chair to see what was going on. There were then a number of sounds like a struggle or someone running round the rooms, and then four shots were fired. Viewers subsequently heard a woman say that they should stay inside the house as the police would soon be en route to the residence. After an hour and a half, MattDamnit comes back to the stream but it is suddenly cut short.

Details are light on the ground at the moment however it seems that the streamer is well. "Man the devil really do be coming for you when things start going great. F*CK EM tho," he said on social media. Some are unconvinced that this was a real break-in though, with one claiming that it was a stunt to boost MattDamnit's own views. We sincerely hope that everyone involved is alright and that it was an actual incident, as a lot of streamers and content creators have dealt with threats to their safety.

Kaitlyn "Amouranth" Siragusa said that someone had once tried to burn her house down and that she received "garden variety swatting on a weekly basis." Swatting, to those who are not familiar with the term, is the extremely dangerous activity where a caller alleges that there is an active hostage situation at a house, leading to law enforcement to deploy a SWAT team to de-escalate the conflict. Not only does it waste time and resources, and terrify those who are unaware that this is going on, it has tragically taken the lives of those targeted by swatting.
