Uncharted fans want Naughty Dog to remake the OG trilogy for PS5

Uncharted fans want Naughty Dog to remake the OG trilogy for PS5

Amidst reports of a new Uncharted game, fans of the franchise want to see Naughty Dog remake the original three games for the PlayStation 5.

It’s been five years since we were last treated to an Uncharted game - and boy, I do miss that franchise. There may be no concrete plans regarding the next instalment but it’s widely assumed that it’s coming at some point. In fact, many suspected that it was going to be announced at this year’s The Game Awards but alas, that didn’t happen.

It’s all down to the fact that a recent report by The Leak suggested that Uncharted was being rebooted by an unknown developer as opposed to Naughty Dog. In October, a job listing revealed that a “new PlayStation studio” was “co-developing an exciting new project with Naughty Dog in a beloved franchise” so it certainly fits with what we know. It turns out though, some fans aren’t interested in a new game. They’d much rather see the original trilogy remade.

Speaking of Naughty Dog, who’s excited for HBO’s The Last of Us TV series which debuts next month? Take a look at the latest trailer below.

A petition has been started over on change.org by user Jamie Bourbeau asking Naughty Dog to consider remaking the first three Uncharted games for the PlayStation 5. “Imagine seeing the plane in Uncharted 3 explode in ray-traced 4K as the wind activates the haptics. Imagine feeling the trigger pressure as you shoot the resin and kill Lazarevic. Imagine hearing the waves and the rain in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune through the controller speaker. The rain drops slamming against the helipad as you fight to rescue Elena,” Bourbeau wrote.

“Naughty Dog has proven they make amazing and faithful remakes with the recent release of The Last Of Us Part I,” he continued. “Remakes of the Uncharted trilogy could bring the series to a whole new demographic.” It’s true, The Last of Us Part I is everything you could possibly hope for in a remake but it did also cause a little bit of controversy with many questioning if a nine-year-old game is worthy of a remake.

If you’re familiar with the Naughty Dog’s work, you’ll know that the original three Uncharted games are slightly older. Drake’s Fortune was released in 2007, followed by Among Thieves in 2009, and Drake’s Deception in 2011. Personally, I’d be happy to see these titles remade. Drake’s Fortune in particular shows its age. Navigating that jet ski really does make me question my life choices. Then again, I’d much rather Naughty Dog beaver away on The Last of Us Part III so you can’t have it all.
