Warner Bros. CEO wants to make more Harry Potter movies

CEO David Zaslav has revealed that he'd be interested in pursuing more Harry Potter projects if they can have J.K. Rowling's involvement.

Despite the main series of Harry Potter films wrapping up over a decade ago now, the fanbase is still absolutely huge. The release of the Fantastic Beasts films, the hype for games like Hogwarts Legacy, and overall nostalgia for the books and movies has clearly kept people hooked for all this time.

The good news for these people is that there may be even more Harry Potter content coming to our screens in the future. As reported by GameSpot, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, recently revealed in a Q3 earnings call that the company is planning on having a big focus on their heavy-hitting franchises going forward, including Harry Potter.

Wizarding world fans are currently gearing up for Hogwarts Legacy - the open-world game set in the Harry Potter universe. Take a look at the trailer below.

“We're going to have a real focus on franchises. We haven't had a Superman movie in 13 years. We haven't done a Harry Potter movie in 15 years. The DC movies and Harry Potter movies provided a lot of the profits of Warner Bros. Motion Pictures over the last 25 years,” he said. “So a focus on franchise - one of the big advantages that we have, House of the Dragon, is an example of that, Game of Thrones, taking advantage of Sex and the City, Lord of the Rings - we still have the right to do Lord of the Rings movies. What are the movies that have brands that are understood and loved everywhere in the world?"

More specifically, Zaslav added that regarding the wizarding world, he’d be interested “if we can do something with J.K. on Harry Potter going forward”, so it sounds like the company would only go ahead with projects that have J.K. Rowling’s involvement. What exactly this could amount to is another matter - there could still be more Fantastic Beasts movies yet to come, for example. We’ll just have to watch this space.
