What’s more, handheld consoles such as the PSP and PS Vita are especially friendly to modders granting the ability to play iconic games from other platforms, whether it be Super Mario, Halo or long-forgotten arcade classics.

However, emulation is not restricted to just PC and obsolete handheld consoles, because back in October 2022, we reported that modders had found a way to play PlayStation 2 games on the Xbox Series X|S. Better still, these classic PS2 games were playable at a 4K resolution and 60fps.
That being said, we should mention that emulation is a bit of a legal grey area and when running emulation software on a console, there is always a chance that it will be bricked, in other words, made totally unplayable to you. So there is always a risk involved if you’re unfamiliar with its technicalities.
Naturally, Microsoft will find ways to prevent gamers from modding Xbox consoles, but as we know, folk on the internet always find a way. As reported by Gameranx (via VGC), modders have once again found a way to run emulation software on Xbox Series X|S which not only plays PlayStation games but also Nintendo.
The group responsible for the latest emulation software on Xbox consoles has a Patreon page and by coughing up the required cash, you can gain access to the UWeaPons Store. Previously, emulation on the Xbox Series X|S was more accessible on developer consoles, but now it seems that it's now available on retail consoles too.

As we already mentioned, emulation is a legal grey area and considering that Microsoft had already found ways to prevent the software from running on its modern-day consoles, we wouldn't be surprised if history repeated itself in the near future once more.
