Forget about 60 FPS, let's talk about 120 FPS. Halo: The Master Chief Collection came to Xbox Ones and PCs in 2014 and 2019 respectively and has brought back many a good memory for old school Halo fans - memories that they'll be able to carry over into the next generation after Microsoft has announced that the collection will be fully optimised for the Xbox Series X/S.

On Twitter, the Xbox account posted an update saying that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be fully optimised on the Xbox Series X and S, with 120 FPS in both campaign and multiplayer modes. It will also have split-screen improvements and rendering at up to 4K on the Series X. Mightily impressive.

Even better for those that already own the collection or have Xbox Game Pass as it comes free to both on November 17. Aaron Greenberg, the general manager at Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft tweeted out that the game will also enable cross-generation play so if you're already on the Series X but have mates still using their Xbox Ones, you can still play together.

Microsoft has been working hard on Halo: The Master Chief Collection to make it the remaster that fans really wanted. When the collection came to PC, the port was really difficult for developers to pull off, but they did it and people flocked to the game to relive the glory days. The port to the next-generation is only good news for preserving the legacy of the series.

All of this news feels like it's softening the blow of Halo Infinite's delay. The game was supposed to be the highlight of the Xbox Series X and S when it came out - the cherry on top of the console release. After footage of the game didn't go down well with audiences and Covid-19 affecting the timeline, the game was delayed by 343 Industries until 2021.
