Toddler Makes Short Work Of Brand New Xbox Series X

It's a rookie mistake and you hate to see it.

Growing up as part of quite a large family, I learned pretty early on in life that video games and kids don't mix. I should rephrase that... video games and kids obviously mix, but very young kids and very new video game consoles? No. No no no no. Nope. Just don't do it.

I love my younger sister with all my heart, but when my shiny new Nintendo DS ended up covered in dribble and the stylus had been chewed as if it were some kind of savoury treat? I learned that day that toddlers do not get to go near anything I care about - particularly expensive new technology. That's a lesson one new parent appears to have learned the hard way, as their Xbox Series X has been transformed from a sleek black monolith to a child's canvas.

As documented by Instahoj, the Reddit user and parent to both a young child and even younger next-gen console was... surprised to receive a message from their wife with a picture of the family's brand-new Xbox Series X covered in crayon scribbles. Take a look at it for yourself below.

Fortunately, it sounds like Instahoj wasn't too mad about the situation. Responding to a comment on the Reddit thread, they actually said they found the whole thing funny. That's what they put on Reddit anyway. I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least a full minute of weeping in the bathroom.

"Its one kid, she's not even two yet so she's discovering drawing everywhere now," the bemused parent explained. "I wasn't even mad, I found it hilarious that she was able to do that so quickly!"

As others have pointed out, the fact that the kid scribbled on the Xbox in crayon means that it should hopefully come off easily enough. Depending on it if it was wax or chalk there may be some residue that's fairly noticeable on such a shiny black console, but Instahoj clearly doesn't care about the Xbox Series X looking its best, and more power to them for that.

The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are available worldwide right now, and you can read our thoughts on the next-gen console right here.
