This month has been pretty fantastic for Assassin’s Creed fans. During the Ubisoft Forward livestream, we got the full reveal of Assassin’s Creed Mirage (which takes place in ninth century Baghdad and stars Valhalla’s Basim), as well as the announcements of Codename Red and the mysterious Hexe (which many fans really want to have a female protagonist).

However, as Eurogamer writes, a game leaker who went by the online alias 'The Real Insider' on Twitter posted details about these games ahead of the official stream. Now, it’s been revealed that YouTuber Dan Allen was behind the account, after he seemingly accidentally responded to a question sent to The Real Insider from his personal account.
Following this, the incriminating tweet and The Real Insider account in its entirety have been deleted, and Allen posted a statement in response to the situation. However, his personal account has since been deleted, too.

“I'm sorry to everyone for my actions,” he wrote (via Eurogamer). “I'm ashamed and disappointed in myself. I'll be taking some time to reflect on my poor decisions, which will never occur again. To everyone that has supported me over the years, I'm [truly] sorry I let you down.”
What’s more, as shown in the screenshots above, Allen had previously thanked Ubisoft on his personal account for the chance to preview Mirage and the other announcements, which suggests that he broke embargo rules in order to leak the information via The Real Insider. At the time of writing, Ubisoft haven’t commented on the situation.
