GTA 6 fans are already arguing over framerates

GTA 6 fans are already arguing over framerates

What would be better in GTA 6, graphics or framerate?

In recent console generations, it’s often been a hot topic of discussion of which is better, snazzy graphics or a smooth framerate? Personally, I favour the latter, but there might be the odd exception to that rule from time to time.

For example, if I’m playing a racer such as Forza Motorsport or an intense action game in which timing and precision are of the utmost importance, such as Elden Ring, then a stable 60fps will always be my preference. However, if I’m playing a cinematic experience such as The Quarry, then lush visuals at 30fps maybe my choice.

Despite being announced back in February 2022, we’re still none the wiser on official details related to Grand Theft Auto VI. We don’t know where it will take place, what era it will be set or when the GTA VI release date might arrive. Heck, nearly two years have passed since its announcement and we’ve not even seen a gameplay trailer, yet.

Regardless of all the above, that has stopped fans from having conversations about what they’d like to see in GTA VI. One such conversation took place on Reddit recently with fans arguing over graphics and framerate.

“What do you guys think the fps that GTA VI will be able to achieve? GTA V launched at 30fps and the same can be said about RDR2. However, games are changing these days with most of them having a 60fps performance mode. Do you think Rockstar will focus on the graphics and fidelity or balance it with the performance?” asked Redditor Wise_Letterhead777.

They continued: “Starfield was a recent game to be locked at 30fps and people were really angry/disappointed. So how would you react if Rockstar decided to do the same? Personally, I would be disappointed but I would buy the game regardless. Curious to hear your thoughts.”

“Seems like fidelity mode (30fps) and performance mode (60fps) are the industry standard right now. I would be p****d if the game was only playable in 30fps,” exclaimed InevitableBet2823.“Performance Mode - Upscaled 1440p/60fps with no extra graphical features like ray tracing. Fidelity - All out graphics in 30fps,” suggested welshman222 and to be fair, that seems a very likely scenario.

“If it’s 30fps I’ll be let down considering we’ve moved into a 60fps territory and this game should be THE game well past that territory,” said ClydeinLimbo. “It would be extremely odd if they made it 30fps and not 60fps.”

“Anything short of 4K/60fps performance mode will be disappointing, to be honest,” replied martyc81. “Rockstar prides themselves on pushing hardware, the fact that RDR2 runs as well as it does on PS4 is a testament to that.”

Obviously, until Rockstar Games releases an update on the development progress of GTA VI, we can only speculate at this time. That being said, Rockstar-parent company Take-Two Interactive has previously suggested that GTA VI might have a release date between 2024 to 2025, so hopefully, we might have new details in the coming months.

Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
