'Skyrim' With 600 Mods Is Literally Everything We Want To See In 'TES6'

"This looks like it could be shipped."

I can't believe that this is Skyrim. That's it, that's the introduction. Sorry, editors. My brain cannot comprehend that this is the same game that explodes if a bee is in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It was only a couple of days ago that we saw the work of digital artist Digital Dreams elevating the original 2011 title to new heights with 8K visuals from a collection of 1,300 mods. If I were to ever replicate the same thing on my own laptop, it would liquefy. Nay, it would vaporise. With Bethesda Softworks beavering away on Starfield, its upcoming sci-fi odyssey, it's going to be a while before we get a glimpse at the next evolution of The Elder Scrolls. That might be disheartening for some, however, others have taken it upon themselves to reimagine and reinvent our beloved Skyrim. And that's a tall order seeing that the game has secrets that are still being uncovered today.

Reddit user Tito__o showed off what Skyrim looks like for their playthroughs and it is sublime. "The Elder Souls V - Ghost of Sekiro," said one fellow fan, and another added: "Love how perfectly coherent your style is. This looks like it could be shipped as a new art Skyrim. Really isn't my cup of tea personally when it comes to modding Skyrim, but I am astonished how nothing here looks out of place. Well done." Of course, I spy Aloy's hairstyle on the Dragonborn, as well as the classic dodge rolls of Dark Souls, and influences from Ghost of Tsushima with the fluttering leaves. All in all, it's gobsmackingly gorgeous.

You know what the most wonderful part is about this? Tito__o happily shared their mod list (over 600 mods strong) with the community. So, if your machine is worthy, you could run this reimagined Skyrim with influences from a handful of the best games of this decade and pretend it's The Elder Scrolls VI. That game isn't coming out for a long time, people. "It’s good to think of The Elder Scrolls VI as still being in a design [phase]… but we’re checking the tech: ‘Is this going to handle the things we want to do in that game?’" said Bethesda boss Todd Howard in June. Don't worry, though - his son's apparently haranguing him for updates on the game so I'm sure he'll let us know.
