'Breath Of The Wild' Now Has Split Screen Co-op

Sorry The Legend of Zelda fans. News on Breath Of The Wild 2 is still practically non-existent. As you may recall, the project’s release date was pushed back to 2023 and we haven’t heard anything from Nintendo since then. It’s probably for the best as we want the game to be as epic and incredible as the first but even still, waiting isn’t fun.

Technically, we don’t even know the full title for Breath Of The Wilds 2 as Nintendo’s Bill Trinen teased that it could “give little bits of hints about maybe what’s going to happen.” Hm, interesting. In the meantime, fans are taking matters into their own hands and thanks to a nifty mod, you can now play Breath Of The Wild in split screen co-op.

Check out the epic trailer for Breath Of The Wild 2 below.

That’s right. One Zelda fan has created an incredible split screen co-op mode which is set to launch this week. The mod is the work of creator Kirbymimi and it lets up to four players journey through Hyrule together. There are a few caveats though.

The mod alters the Wii U version of the game, so as pointed out by GamesRadar, you’ll need an emulator like Cemu in order to install the mod. The co-op mode is also couch co-op as opposed to online play, so you’ll need your chums nearby.

The split screen mod launches on 29 July, so there’s just a few more days until release. The mod is a beta so naturally, there may be a few early hiccups but still, it sure sounds like a lot of fun. You can download the mod from the creator’s Discord channel.

If that simply isn’t enough, another creator recently made a Breath Of The Wild DLC which includes a new minigame, 10 quests, new rewards, and extra combat encounters which is available to download for both the Wii U and Switch versions of the game. Content, content everywhere.
