Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare sequel in development, says insider

Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare sequel in development, says insider

Insiders are teasing that the next Call of Duty instalment will be a follow-up to 2014's Advanced Warfare.

With the beta period all wrapped up, we’re now just a few short weeks away from the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Already, Activision have outlined exactly what’ll change before launch based on player feedback, plus one insider has made the exciting claim that Modern Warfare II will eventually include all of Modern Warfare 2 (2009)’s multiplayer maps.

Beyond that, there’s plenty more to look forward to. Last month, Activision finally unveiled Warzone 2.0 which is set to release on 16 November. You’d think between that and Modern Warfare II, fans would have their fix for now but insiders are already teasing 2025’s franchise instalment.

CoD leaker RalphsValve has claimed that Sledgehammer Games’ next game will be Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare 2. It’s no surprise that the proposed game is a follow-up to 2014’s futuristic Advanced Warfare. The game included holographic projections, exoskeletons, an invisibility exo cloak, plus laser weapons. Not your typical CoD fare.

In the past several years, the franchise has returned to its grounded roots so perhaps it’s time for a change again. Speaking about Advanced Warfare 2, RalphsValve (on What If Gaming) wrote, “Sledgehammer Games aims to strip away from World War shooters, and instead return to the battlegrounds of the future, ushering back in an era of Advanced Warfare on the now unified IW 9.0 engine.”

He continued, “Leading up to the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, Sledgehammer’s narrative team originally had the desire to further explore their world and make several sequels evolving Vanguard’s cast of characters. However, with Vanguard falling short of expectations, Sledgehammer was back at square one, tasked with pitching a new idea.” It’s estimated that Advanced Warfare 2 could launch in 2025.
