Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 is getting a sequel, a direct sequel that picks up where the game left off and possibly disregards the events of Black Ops 3 onwards.
The sequel will be the franchise’s 25th entry, which has felt like a rollercoaster the past few years with several ups and downs to its quality.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023) left a bad taste in players’ mouths due to its laughable 3-hour campaign, which has been relentlessly mocked online, especially when free DLC for God Of War: Ragnarok, a game that came out last year, has a longer playtime.

There’s hope on the horizon though as insiders claim Call Of Duty will head back to the good old days, after the release of the next planned entry which will be set during the Gulf War.
Codenamed “Saturn,” the next Call Of Duty is rumoured to be set in 2030, making it the latest futuristic entry since Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 in 2018. Set five years after the events of Black Ops 2, the game will reportedly follow the same team of protagonists as they go to war with a brand-new villain.
Multiplayer will be reminiscent of the old games, but with updated movement, new maps and updated classic ones. It’ll also supposedly mark the return of traditional “pick-10” class systems.
However, the most exciting news is the next iteration of Call Of Duty: Zombies will return to its roots of round-based survival. Fans will surely be relieved at this news, especially since the last few iterations of the Zombies mode have felt soulless, bland, and ultimately a shell of its former self.

There’s currently no release window at the time of writing, though if you follow the current franchise pattern of annual releases, it’s safe to say Activision will be aiming for a 2025 release, following the Gulf War game that’ll launch next year.
