The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been out for less than three weeks, but it’s already proven to be monumentally successful.
As if getting the best ever opening for an animated film wasn’t enough, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is currently on track to hit a whopping $1 billion at the box office. It's safe to say that any concerns fans had about Chris Pratt voicing Mario have been thrown right out of the window.

Anyway, given how well the film has been doing, it seems pretty likely that other game developers and publishers might try to follow in its footsteps with their own animated movie adaptations. Assuming that they’re made faithfully, that can only be a good thing, right? As Dexerto reports, one franchise that could soon be getting the silver-screen treatment is Crash Bandicoot.

Over on Twitter, Crash Bandicoot developers Toys for Bob tweeted: “With the plumber boy’s incredible cinematic run, we think it’s time for Crash’s theatrical debut! What say you, [Sony Pictures Animation]?”
While this isn’t hard confirmation that a Crash film is actually happening, it only takes a quick glance at that tweet’s replies to confirm that fans would be incredibly hyped for it: “Do it! Crash is LONG overdue for a movie and/or cartoon series!” wrote @greenth1ng_Art. “I would LOVE a Crash Bandicoot animated movie from Sony Pictures Animation. Make it happen!” replied @JoshuaSoffical. “WE NEED A CRASH BANDICOOT MOVIE,” added @Jaiku2099.
Given how beloved the Crash franchise is, it’s honestly pretty surprising that it’s not been given its own movie in the past. Whether Toys for Bob was simply trying to gauge interest or actually tease an upcoming announcement remains to be seen - let’s hope it’s the latter.
