'Days Gone' Devs Tease New Multiplayer Game In The Works

'Days Gone' Devs Tease New Multiplayer Game In The Works

Three years after Days Gone was released, Bend Studio are finally opening up about their next project.

Bend Studio are yet to announce their next project despite the fact that Days Gone came out three years ago. Naturally, we all assumed that Days Gone would be receiving a sequel but that is sadly not the case.

Days Gone went on to match the sales of Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima, selling over eight million copies, yet while Ghost of Tsushima was branded a huge success, Days Gone was considered to be a disappointment. Alas, a sequel isn’t happening (even though we would’ve seen some cool sci-fi weapons apparently).

If you enjoyed Days Gone's thrills, why not step it up a notch and check out the gameplay of The Callisto Protocol which promises to be one of scariest games ever produced for consoles.

Well, Bend Studio has finally teased what they are working on and it’s a multiplayer project. The game is unrelated to Days Gone but it does use the game’s “open-world systems”.

Speaking to PlayStation blog, Bend Studio’s community manager Kevin McAllister said, “Today, we are excited to share just a snippet of news on our current project. We are currently working on a new IP that includes multiplayer and builds upon the open-world systems of Days Gone, but brings you a whole new world that we are extremely excited to craft for you. We cannot wait to reveal it to you when the time is right.”

Admittedly, it’s not a lot to go on. We really don’t have a clue what the game might look like, but it’s nice to know that something is in the works nonetheless. Bend Studio has a solid reputation. Sure, Days Gone may have undersold according to Sony’s expectations but I think we can all agree in saying that the game’s hordes of Freakers were pretty impressive.

Bend Studio were of course also behind the legendary Syphon Filter which will soon arrive on PlayStation 5 as part of the Premium tier of PlayStation Plus. It’s unlikely we’ll hear much on Bend’s upcoming multiplayer title for quite some time given it’s in the early days of production so until then, I guess I’ll be playing Syphon Filter which isn’t a bad thing at all.
