Dr Disrespect Accuses 'Warzone' Devs Of Stealing From His Game

In case you were unaware, Herschel ‘Dr Disrespect’ Beahm (outside of his streaming and YouTube exploits) is also one of the co-founders of Midnight Society - a new game studio which is currently working on a game to rival Call of Duty. Previously codenamed Project Moon, the studio's game is called Deadrop, and has been described as a “vertical extraction shooter (VES) for a new age of competitive multiplayer”.

The first gameplay footage for Deadrop surfaced online last month, and was met with mixed reactions - comparison between the title and the upcoming CoD game, Modern Warfare II, was inevitable, thanks to Beahm previously professing that the reveal trailer for MWII couldn’t compare to a screenshot from his game. Now though, as reported by Dot Esports, the streamer has claimed that the developers of Call of Duty: Warzone have stolen from concept art and fiction of one of Midnight Society’s characters.

“They stole a fiction for one of our concept arts just like they stole the fiction of one of our characters,” Beahm said. He also reportedly referred to the developers as “a bunch of slimy guys”.

The controversy actually began last month, when Dr Disrespect fans pointed out that a recently released CoD skin looked similar to a character seen in Deadrop’s promotional material. At the time, Midnight Society’s studio head, Robert Bowling, who created the character design in question, said “at least name it after me”.
