Fable trailer attacked for 'unattractive' protagonist by idiots, morons, and fools

The Fable trailer has come under fire from trolls bemoaning the 'unattractive' female protagonist.

Following the disappointment of Redfall and all in all, a quiet couple of years for Xbox, the recent Xbox Games Showcase needed to dazzle - which is exactly what it did. In fact, I’d go as far as saying that Xbox delivered the showcase of the not-E3 season.

The star of the show was, of course, Starfield which is due to launch in September. Bethesda’s upcoming space epic is set to feature the biggest city they’ve ever created, plus NPCs will call you by your actual real life name. Starfield will be locked at 30fps but that’s perhaps to be somewhat expected with a game of this scale. Elsewhere, Avowed finally received a brand new gameplay trailer as did Forza Motorsport. I’m very much into whatever South of Midnight was. Kicking off the showcase though was the latest trailer for Fable and while I thought it looked utterly delightful, some people are angry about the ‘unattractive’ protagonist. Sigh.

Take a look at the new trailer for Fable below.

In an ideal world, I’d cast a spell and make everyone kind but that’s very evidently not a reality we live in. Shortly following the debut of the trailer, one Twitter user declared, “This is the main character of the new Fable game from Microsoft. Continuing the trend of weirdly unattractive female main characters in video games, because beauty is objectifying. This is what happens when you consult with woke intersectional feminists.” Eye roll. Another added, “I know y’all are excited for the upcoming Fable … but she’s ugly.”

One Twitter user responded to the internet trolls with, “Bros sad he doesn’t want to smash the video game character.” It’s definitely not the first time we’ve seen a female character attacked. Horizon’s Aloy and The Last of Us Part II’s Abby have both come under fire from trolls in recent years. Do you remember that Aloy ‘redesign’?

Just this week, Star Wars Outlaws has come under attack from those angry at the fact that the game has a female protagonist. Perhaps one day we won’t need to deal with this nonsense but for now, let’s all let out a therapeutic sigh. Ugh.
