Far Cry 6 is free to play this weekend for PC and consoles, so if you've got nothing going on, sink a couple of hours exploding things on a unbelievably beautiful island.
Most will remember Far Cry 6 for the fact that it sold an enormously expensive Game of the Year Edition in spite of winning no Game of the Year awards. While some might raise their eyebrows at this sort of ambition, may we remind you that we are only a day after Valentine's Day. How can you love anybody without loving yourself first? You know we're right.
Or, some might recall the fact that Ubisoft sent out emails chastising those who hadn't sunk a lot of time into the game yet, with a personalised note from the fictional president Anton Castillo of Yara. On that note, actor Giancarlo Esposito is reprising his role in Far Cry: Rise of the Revolution, a prequel that presumably follows the character's relentless rise to the top.

As per Ubisoft's announcement, Far Cry 6 is free to play from 16 February to 20 February across PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series consoles and Xbox One. Co-op will be live too and those who team up to take on Castillo's troops will get the White Lotus Sniper Rifle for their trouble. If you're a lone wolf, then the bonus will be in your inventory should you purchase Far Cry 6 during or after the free weekend, and all of the game's editions are seeing a significant discount at the moment. Progress from the free weekend will also remain if you buy the game.
The DLCs Rambo: All the Blood and The Vanishing are included in this period too, if you're an especially efficient revolutionary. Rambo: All the Blood does what it says on the tin, however, The Vanishing is a crossover between Far Cry and Stranger Things. Don't look at me like that. This is pretty par for the course for these games.
