Gamer's mum goes off on 'loser' pro for trash talking her young son at tournament

Gamer's mum goes off on 'loser' pro for trash talking her young son at tournament

One gamer's mum went off on 'loser' pro for trash talking her young son at a Smash Ultimate tournament.

One Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player’s mum has gone off at one of her son’s opponents, after he was eliminated during a tournament match and subjected to a round of trash talking.

On the whole, I like to think of gaming as a calming and therapeutic hobby but there’s no denying that from time to time, we all get a little angry. Just last night, I was enjoying some Squads on Fortnite with three of my fellow GAMINGbible-ers and was very angry when, like a silly goose, I decided to reload instead of switching weapons, landing us in second place. Not all eliminations stem from error though. Sometimes, your opponent is simply the better player, but it’s not gracious to immediately follow your victory with trash talking.

Take a look at some entertaining gaming wins and fails below.

As reported by Dexerto, at Low Tide City 2023, up-and-comer Syrup and Enrique ‘Maister’ Hernández had an altercation outside of their game. Maister was able to win against Syrup 3-2 but instead of moving on, Maister then trash talked Syrup over his Smash Ultimate loss. Screenshots posted by Jude ‘Jakal’ Harris seemingly confirm that Maister told Syrup he “f**king sucks” after the match.

Syrup’s mum then stepped in, writing, “As an adult, I think players such as yourself have no class, zero sportsmanship, even if you win, you’re still a loser all around,” adding, “I have the utmost respect for all players but you’re the low of the low! No doubt.”

Maister later apologised for his actions. He said, “I should not have trash-talked him not only because he is young, but because he has also not done anything to me nor did he say anything to me prior, during, or after our set. He is a great player with a lot of potential in him, he got ninth at a major tonight for a reason. What I said was unacceptable, and I'm sorry. While this is not an excuse, I genuinely forgot Syrup was as young as he is.” Don’t mess with mums.
