Ah yes, Call of Duty rumours. It seems that no sooner are we rid of the months' worth of rumours and leaks surrounding Warzone, we rush headlong into theories surrounding the upcoming Call of Duty 2020 game. Of course, as with all rumours and leaks, we'd encourage you to take all of this with a grain of salt as none of it has been confirmed by any official source. Still, it is nice to speculate on what the next instalment may have to offer.

In a recent video from YouTube channel TheGamingRevolution (via VGC), there are claims that he has leaked information about this year's Call of Duty title, which states that it will be a reboot of the original Black Ops game. That's not a remaster, but a "reimagining" - supposedly in the same way that the recent Modern Warfare compares to the original. It's also allegedly being developed by Treyarch, with support from both Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software.

The campaign is reportedly taking place during the events of the Vietnam and Cold Wars, and will see the story unfold from various different perspectives. Players will also see the return of Alex "Numbers" Mason and Sergeant Frank Woods, though it will apparently tell a different story for both characters but will relate to the original Black Ops campaign in certain places.

The apparent leak also suggests that 2020's CoD will be a lot gorier than the last game, and will use the same engine that Infinity Ward built for last year'sModern Warfare. We will also see big multiplayer matches such as 32 v 32 Ground War, and multiplayer DLC will supposedly be free too, as it is with the current Call of Duty game. It's also mentioned that there may be a new storyline for the Zombies mode, which will be based around Vietnam.

So while this particular leak isn't totally unbelievable, there's nothing official to say it's true, either. What we do know for sure is that there will be a Call of Duty title released towards the end of this year, as confirmed last month by Activision during its Q4 2019 financial results call. We also know that remakes/remasters are certainly on the cards for future projects, as stated by Activision's CEO during the same call.

"Stay tuned for some future announcements," he teased. "Beyond pure remasters, there are a lot of opportunities now to innovate and think about totally new content within these IPs."

But right now, with nothing official to back it up, you probably shouldn't get too excited just yet.
