Free stuff. We all love it, right? I mean, when it's good free stuff. And in video games, good free stuff is often a surefire way to get into the good books of players around the world. We've seen it work very well for CD Projekt Red, who blessed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with a suite of entirely gratis extras, post-release; and the studio will be doing the same for Cyberpunk 2077. And now we've word that Activision is planning a similar strategy for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which is being developed by Treyarch alongside Raven Software, got its first full reveal last night (well, last night, UK time), and you can check out the trailer below.

Which all looks very good, doesn't it? If you're into Call of Duty, and Black Ops, and all things Cold War, no doubt you are beside yourself with excitement, right now. But also, a sweetener: Activision is making a suite of extras, including new maps and modes, available post-release for free.

As GameRant documents, these extras will include some pretty significant things. For one thing, Zombies will be coming to Black Ops Cold War, and they'll be coming for free. We're pretty sure that the shambling, slathering undead will soon show up in Call of Duty: Warzone, so it's not that much of a surprise that they'll also invade Black Ops Cold War. What is a nice surprise: we won't have to pay for them. (I mean, they are past their sell-by dates.)

Also free: new multiplayer maps. And given those are most of the Call of Duty experience for many a player, the word that additions to the suite of selectable areas will come at no extra cost is welcomed, indeed. The multiplayer side of Black Ops Cold War is due to be revealed on September 9th. BlopsCW, which nobody is calling this game, will also feature a Battle Pass. Naturally. Though that won't be free, entirely. Naturally.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War releases for current-gen platforms on November 13th, with next-gen versions to follow, and you can read loads more about the game in our preview, here.
