Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 remastered petition has over 40,000 signatures

Over the last 20 years of its existence, the Call of Duty series has released some bangers, and perhaps some not so.

Some of the best in the series include the likes of Call of Duty 2, the original Modern Warfare and the Black Ops trilogy. While the likes of Advanced Warfare, Infinite Warfare and Vanguard never perhaps hit the heights that fans would have hoped.

One game that exceeded the expectations of fans was 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II which was released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Black Ops II takes place over two timelines, one during the late 1980s and the other in 2025, with both Alex Mason and Frank Woods as the protagonists. What’s more, it even featured some player choices that could result in multiple endings.

However, despite being a popular entry amongst fans, so much so that a petition is gathering serious traction, it received mixed reviews on Metacritic with a score of 83 from critics and just 5.4 from users on Xbox 360.

So, what of this petition we just mentioned? Well, a petition organised on Change.org by a fan calling for Black Ops II to be remastered has garnered over 40,000 signatures and is fast approaching its 50,000 milestone.

The petition organiser Ethan Walker has called for a remastered version in a similar vein as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered which was released in 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. What’s more, the petition requests that not only should it feature the campaign and multiplayer, but perhaps maps from the original Black Ops as well as Black Ops III, and of course Zombies.

Walker also mentions that should Activision decide to remaster Call of Duty: Black Ops II, it would be easy money for the publisher, and we totally agree. Yet, whether this idea ever comes to fruition is another matter altogether.

In the more immediate future, it is expected that the new Call of Duty to be released in 2023 could be a reboot of Modern Warfare 3, and it could see the return of a certain villain.
